From the August 2011 edition of the Torch:
The theme “Las Cruces Mysteries Will Drive You
Nuts” managed to intrigue all, and the goal was
accomplished when this “City of the Crosses” hosted
the New Mexico State Convention. Inquisitive
minds discovered clues to many of the mysteries
that surround the city’s heritage, and were also
given a primer on forensics by a local detective. To
offset any seriousness, there was also a fun winetasting.
To accompany the theme, a mystery play
was on the bill for Saturday night, titled, “There’s
Gold in Them Thar Hills.” The ending was as magical
as the entire weekend, making for spine-tingling
moments and lots of togetherness.
